Dr. Steve Rad, A Career Dedicated to Families
For a family navigating a high-risk pregnancy, pregnancy after loss, or even a low-risk or at- risk pregnancy, finding the right physician is make-or-break. The right physician can create a future that helps to soften the past and current journey.
This means finding someone who understands both the medical complexity and the emotions that accompany another pregnancy. That intersection of expertise and compassion offers a meaningful way to understand Dr. Steve Rad’s work—and the professional recognition he has received.

Dr. Rad has been selected for inclusion in the 2027 Southern California Super Doctors list. A double board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and maternal-fetal medicine specialist, Dr. Rad has built his Los Angeles practice around caring for women and families through pregnancy, including some of its most challenging circumstances.
This recent honor adds to a history of recognition, including being named a Top Doctor by Los Angeles Magazine for multiple consecutive years. Behind those distinctions is a career shaped by advanced training, individualized care, and a particular commitment to families expecting and families expecting again after loss.
What selection to the Super Doctors list means
Super Doctors identifies physicians through a process combining peer nominations, independent research, and review by a panel of physicians within each specialty. Candidates are evaluated on professional achievements such as board certifications, hospital appointments, leadership, academic work, and publications. The publisher also reviews disciplinary records before publication.
According to Super Doctors’ published selection criteria, its list includes about 5 percent of physicians in the relevant state or region. Physicians cannot pay to be selected. The recognition signals peer acknowledgment and professional achievement; it is not an additional medical certification or a guarantee of an individual patient’s outcome.
For patients, that distinction offers useful context: the honor reflects a physician’s standing among colleagues alongside an independent assessment of professional accomplishments.
The story behind the recognition
Dr. Rad’s medical education began at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the Drew Medical Education Program. He completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency and maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, then founded his private practice in 2016.
Today, at the Los Angeles Fetal & Maternal Care Center, Dr. Rad provides comprehensive obstetrical and maternal-fetal care designed to support patients at every stage of pregnancy. Specializing in low-, at-, and high-risk pregnancy care, labor and delivery, and advanced fetal imaging, Dr. Rad offers a fully integrated comprehensive model of care that spans pre-conception planning through postpartum recovery.

While many maternal-fetal medicine specialists focus solely on high-risk consultations, Dr. Rad’s practice is unique in that it provides complete, continuous clinical care, including full pregnancy management and attending deliveries. His practice centers on individualized attention throughout the pregnancy journey.
In addition to clinic-based services, Dr. Rad improves patient access through innovative home ultrasound and remote prenatal care solutions. By bringing advanced diagnostic technologies into the home, the practice offers families a convenient, personalized, tailored approach to prenatal monitoring.
“For me, it’s not just about the medicine and the tech. My four children were all high-risk pregnancies, including premature twins with extended NICU stays. I’ve been in those feelings and fears and supported my wife with hers.”
One especially personal expression of that commitment is the Ari Rubin Rainbow Clinic, which Dr. Rad founded in collaboration with the Rainbow Clinic and PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy in 2023. PUSH identifies it as the first dedicated pregnancy-after-loss practice on the West Coast.
The clinic’s name carries a family’s story. Ari Rubin Baybutt, the son of Rachel Gould and Adam Baybutt, was stillborn in 2021. The clinic was named in his honor, connecting his memory to a service dedicated to supporting other families through pregnancy after loss.
Yahoo Life profiled the Ari Rubin Rainbow Clinic and its care for patients pregnant after miscarriage or stillbirth, including the Gould family’s story.

That work gives the award announcement a human dimension. A professional distinction recognizes accomplishments across a career; a clinic bearing a child’s name shows how those skills can serve a deeply personal need.
A continuing history of peer recognition
The 2027 honor joins Dr. Rad’s repeated appearances on Los Angeles Magazine’s Top Doctors list. His practice’s biography reports six consecutive years of recognition, and its 2024 announcement documents his continued inclusion. Read the practice’s 2026 announcement.
Los Angeles Magazine’s Top Doctors list is a separate recognition program. Its published methodology describes a countywide physician nomination survey conducted by DataJoe, followed by checks against state licensing and disciplinary information. Read Los Angeles Magazine’s methodology.
For Dr. Rad, these honors provide an occasion to recognize a sustained commitment to maternal-fetal medicine. His work with the Ari Rubin Rainbow Clinic also brings that commitment into focus: applying specialized knowledge while making room for the hopes, concerns, and histories families bring to their care.
